The source is there but easy to miss in the list: Vaccaro, Almaatouq, and Malone, "When Combinations of Humans and AI Are Useful: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis," Nature Human Behaviour, 2024. The finding that human-AI combinations underperformed the best of either working alone was the data point that changed the shape of the essay. Will take a look at your pieces. The titles alone suggest we're circling the same problem from different angles.
